abstract
car accidents are documented as a growing public health problem in iran as well as other developing countries. generally growing number of population and vehicles are not accompanied by extending road construction programs. these could be result in high death, disability, and economic loss in such country compare to develop one. this mainly affected young person who are economically more active. in this line, world health organization (who) has stressed some strategy and proposed guidelines to reduced car accident in developing countries. including adequate epidemiological data on traffic injuries should be collect. in some country with low level of car crash vehicle ownership is limited, which lead to less crowded traffic. in such places, improvement and expanding of public transport could reduce road traffics. surveys also find that improving medical services and education could significantly reduce car accidents. also research has found that driver's errors could be accompanied by law violations. in some cases driver observations of police station is so weak, should be more in some date of year and during vacation times. importantly analysis of accident data should be done for identification of locations problems and detect most dangerous areas. road and vehicle engineering measures have been well proven effective in reducing accidents. further investigation is essential and will require close intersectorial collaboration between, traffic police, health, law and transport authorities.

full textDeveloping the ASEAN Regional Road Safety Strategy
In 2011, more than 75,000 people died in road crashes in the ten member countries of the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) and many times this number sustained long term injuries. Improving road safety outcomes in ASEAN is not only important for the welfare and economic benefit of these countries, but given that a significant proportion of the world’s population lives in ASEAN, it...

full textImproving the safety of aging road users: a mini-review.
Older drivers are at greatest risk for injury or death as a result of a car crash. In this mini-review, we outline the normative age-related changes to perceptual, cognitive, and motor abilities that contribute to increased crash risk and decreased comfort with driving, and highlight specific driving scenarios and conditions that are particularly challenging for aging road users. Adopting a per...
full textSafety reporting in developing country vaccine clinical trials-a systematic review.
With more vaccines becoming available worldwide, vaccine research is on the rise in developing countries. To gain a better understanding of safety reporting from vaccine clinical research in developing countries, we conducted a systematic review in Medline and Embase (1989-2011) of published randomized clinical trials (RCTs) reporting safety outcomes with ≥50% developing country participation (...
full textAscertainment of On-road Safety Errors Based on Video Review.
Using an instrumented vehicle, we have studied several aspects of the on-road performance of healthy and diseased elderly drivers. One goal from such studies is to ascertain the type and frequency of driving safety errors. Because the judgment of such errors is somewhat subjective, we applied a taxonomy system of 15 general safety error categories and 76 specific safety error types. We also emp...
